Best Movie of 2010

Someone asked for my film of 2010, which I brushed off with “not a great year”.

I’d like to expand a little. The smart money to win the 83rd Academy Award is currently ‘The Social Network’ (TSN), which is a so-so movie. When I think over 2009, I can safely say that Hurt Locker, The White Ribbon, The Secret in their Eyes and Inglorious Basterds are better than TSN. 'A Prophet’ blows it out of the water. Precious, Star Trek, A Serious Man, Crazy Heart and An Education are at least as good as TSN, if not better.

But, what if I’m letting my distaste for Jesse Eisenberg cloud my view of 2010? Possible, but what’s better than TSN? The only 2010 movies I can call good without qualification are Toy Story 3 and Inception; neither are on a Hurt Locker/Prophet level.

So, “not a great year”. With a little explanation.
